Your journey to Nag Tibba begins from Dehradun. Pickup will be from Prince Chowk at 6:00 AM. The scenic drive to Pantwari Village passes through Mussoorie and Kempty Falls, where we’ll take a short break for breakfast. Continuing along the Yamuna River, we’ll turn towards Nag Tibba Road from Nainbagh and reach Pantwari by noon.

Pantwari is the last point with mobile network coverage. After lunch and some rest here, we begin our trek to Base Camp 1. The trek starts from the end of a motorable road. Initially, you’ll walk on a well-defined cemented path, which later transitions into a rocky trail. Along the way, you’ll find 2–3 water points, the first being a stream reservoir about 15 minutes into the trek—perfect for refilling your water bottles.

After around 30 minutes of trekking, we’ll pass a cluster of traditional huts with thatched roofs—this small cliff-side village is lined with terraced farmlands that glow yellow and green during harvest. You can spot Pantwari Village from this viewpoint. Before reaching the ridge, we pass Goat Village, an eco-tourism resort.

Soon, the rocky trail leads into a dense forest of oak and rhododendron trees, and the steep incline levels out. We’ll come across a solitary shepherd’s hut near farmlands—our campsite lies just 5–10 minutes beyond this. The campsite is a serene clearing surrounded by forest, overlooking a valley often filled with rising clouds—truly a mesmerizing sight. Enjoy a peaceful evening sky, have dinner, and rest under the stars, preparing for the summit trek the next day.

Day 2: Trek to Nag Tibba Summit, Return to Pantwari, Drive to Dehradun

  • Altitude: 3,000 m / 9,900 ft

  • Trek Distance: 12 km | 10–11 hrs

  • Drive Distance: 85 km | 5–6 hrs

Today we ascend to the Nag Tibba Summit. After a quick breakfast, we start early as it’s a long day. The trail starts with a dense forest, which is often snow-covered in winter, adding challenge and beauty to the trek. After 20–30 minutes, we reach two open meadows—ideal spots to pause and soak in the views.

The trail then becomes a gentle walk leading to the Nag Devta Temple, located in the third open clearing. This temple marks the base of Nag Tibba hill. On clear days, the Garhwal Himalayan Range is visible from here.

From the temple, the trail climbs steeply through the forest—more challenging in snow—but highly rewarding. As we approach the summit, the trail winds along a ridge before reaching the flag-marked Nag Tibba summit.

At the summit, you’re greeted with breathtaking views of the Garhwal Himalayas, including peaks like Bandarpoonch, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Kala Nag, and others. Spend some time here capturing photos and soaking in the beauty before we retrace our steps back to the camp for lunch.

After lunch, we descend to Pantwari Village, followed by the return drive to Dehradun (5–6 hrs). You may choose to stay overnight in Dehradun or continue your onward journey.
