Black Peak Expedition – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

  • Altitude: 1,950m (6,400 ft)

  • Distance: 220 km drive

  • Duration: Approx. 10 hours

  • Pick-up Time: 6:00 AM

Day 2: Sankri to Seema via Taluka

  • Altitude: 2,600m (8,500 ft) at Seema, 2,000m (6,700 ft) at Taluka

  • Distance:

    • Sankri to Taluka: 12 km drive, 1 hour

    • Taluka to Seema: 12 km trek, 7-8 hours

Day 3: Seema to Rainbasera

  • Altitude: 3,100m (10,200 ft)

  • Distance: 10 km trek

  • Duration: 6-7 hours

Day 4: Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal

  • Altitude: 3,600m (11,800 ft)

  • Distance: 7 km trek

  • Duration: 4-5 hours

Day 5: Ruinsara Tal to Kyarkoti (Base Camp)

Buffer Days: Day 16 & 17

  • Purpose: Buffer days are reserved for unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather or safety concerns.

  • Decisions on usage will be made collectively by the team.

  • Buffer days are not included in the expedition cost.

  • If unused, participants can explore nearby locations such as:

    • Rishikesh: White-water rafting, bungee jumping, yoga, Ayurvedic massage, Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula, Parmarth Aarti, large ashrams.

    • Haridwar: Pilgrimage sites, Har Ki Pauri, Ganga Aarti, jungle safari at Rajaji National Park, Ayurvedic medicines.

    • Mussoorie: Mall Road, shopping, Kempty Falls, Municipal Garden, and Sir George Everest House.

    • Inclusions

      1. Accommodation (as per the itinerary)

        • Guest house stay on Day 1 & Day 14 at Sankri (twin sharing).

        • Camping from Day 2 to Day 13.

      2. Meals (Veg + Egg)

        • All meals from Sankri to Sankri.

        • Dinner from Day 1 to Day 14.

      3. Support Team

        • Base Camp Manager – Handles communication and deploys extra manpower in emergencies.

        • Expedition Leader – Certified in mountaineering & first aid.

        • High-Altitude Chef – Ensures nutritious meals during the trek.

        • Local Guides – Number of guides depends on the group size.

        • Support Staff – Sufficient team for assistance.

      4. Trek Equipment

        • Sleeping bags, liners (if required), mattresses, and utensils.

        • 3-person all-season trekking tents (twin sharing), kitchen & dining tent, and toilet tents.

        • Camping stools, walkie-talkies.

        • Safety gear: ropes, helmet, ice axe, harness, gaiters & crampons (if required).

      5. First Aid & Safety

        • Medical kit, stretcher, oxygen cylinder, blood pressure monitor, oximeter, and stethoscope.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING FOR HAMPTA PASS- TREK

  • 50–60 ltrs backpack
  • Strong hiking boots: a leather upper is best because it gives your ankles more support. If you don’t have a pair yet, you should get one as soon as possible and wear it a lot so that it breaks in well. This will help keep blisters from forming.
  • Tennis shoes or sandals that are light enough to wear in camp.
  • Two pairs of thick wool socks, if possible.
  • Two pairs of everyday nylon socks to wear underneath the wool socks to prevent blisters.
  • One shirt for hiking, preferably with long sleeves.
  • Long John top: This is also called thermal underwear, and it should be made of wool if it is the first layer.
  • Two each of warm shirts and pants for camp
  • 1 each rain cot/poncho
  • Warm Jacket: 1
  • One pair of wool gloves as thick as can be bought on the market.
  • Long Johns: The first layer should be wool if possible.
  • Under wear: 2-3 changes Shorts or pants for hiking: 1
  • Sunscreen lotion is up to you. Chap stick or lip balm is optional.
  • Water bottle: Two 1-liter bottles (Pepsi bottles work well), make sure they don’t leak.
  • Headlamp or flashlight: A headlamp is best because it frees up your hands for work. If you bring a flashlight, bring extra batteries.
  • Items for the bathroom, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. And a small one-person medical kit.
  • Cotton or nylon for a sun hat. Sunglasses: Those with an anchor are best.
