Base Camp: Hanuman Chatti
The starting point for the Gulabi Kantha Trek is Hanuman Chatti, located at the confluence of Hanuman Ganga and the Yamuna River, just 13 km before Yamunotri Dham. Hanuman Chatti is a small but vibrant market town and a base for many treks including Bali Pass and Fachu Kandi Pass. It also holds religious significance, being an essential stop for Char Dham pilgrims heading to Yamunotri. The region is rich in temples and cultural heritage.

Itinerary
Short Itinerary – Gulabi Kantha Trek
Day 1: Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti (2400 meters)
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti, covering approximately 172 km in 6–7 hours. As you travel through the beautiful hilly terrain of Uttarakhand, you’ll pass by picturesque towns like Mussoorie and Barkot.
Arrive at Hanuman Chatti, a serene village located at the confluence of the Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna Rivers. This charming village, surrounded by the mighty Himalayas, serves as the base camp for the Gulabi Kantha trek. Settle into your stay, enjoy the peaceful mountain air, and prepare for the trek ahead.
Day 2: Trek from Hanuman Chatti to Seema Thatch (3400 meters)
The real adventure begins today as you trek 10 km from Hanuman Chatti to Seema Thatch, a journey that takes about 5–6 hours. The trail winds through dense forests, alpine meadows, and serene landscapes.
As you ascend, you’ll be greeted by wildflowers, oak and deodar trees, and possibly spot local wildlife. By afternoon, you’ll reach Seema Thatch, a beautiful open meadow surrounded by towering peaks. Rest and acclimatize here, under the clear mountain skies.
Day 3: Trek to Gulabi Kantha Summit (3789 meters) and Back to Seema Thatch
Today is the highlight of the trek! Start early for a challenging but rewarding 8 km trek (6–7 hours) to reach the Gulabi Kantha Summit at 3,789 meters.
Upon reaching the summit, soak in the stunning 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges, including Bandarpunch, Bali Pass, Chaukhamba, and Shivalik peaks. Enjoy the breathtaking sunrise or mid-day views, and after spending time at the summit, descend back to Seema Thatch for an overnight stay, carrying the memories of the majestic vistas with you.
Day 4: Seema Thatch to Hanuman Chatti (10 km trek)
After breakfast, begin your descent from Seema Thatch to Hanuman Chatti, retracing the scenic 10 km trail in about 4–5 hours. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the trail one last time and reflect on the unforgettable experience as you reach back to the base camp. Rest for the evening and prepare for your return journey.
Day 5: Drive from Hanuman Chatti to Dehradun
Post breakfast, depart for Dehradun by road. The drive takes 6–7 hours, and you’ll reach Dehradun by around 5 PM in the evening, concluding your trek with a heart full of memories and a soul refreshed by the mountains.

Trek Essential
- Footwear: The trekking boots which must be waterproof and snow proof, normal boots, floaters, and woolen socks.
- Backpack: (50 ltr), Daypack (20-30 ltr), Duffel bag.
- Clothes: Jacket and trousers that are both waterproof and breathable. Jacket (synthetic or down feather fleece), synthetic insulated trousers, poncho, sweatshirt, inner thermal (upper & lower), fleece, t-shirts, cotton trekking pants, shorts
- Season wise Clothes:
- Hand and head protection includes liner gloves, bandannas, sun hats, woollen caps, and face masks, among other things.
- Accessories: Sunglasses/goggles, anti-glare lenses, water bottle, hydra bag, and headlamp with spare bulb and extra batteries are all recommended.
- Trekking Gears: Toolkit for an emergency. Sunscreen, a toiletry pack, water purification pills, Ziploc packs, ear plugs, first-aid kit, and the necessary medications are all recommended.
- Camping Equipment: Sleeping bags of lining (extreme -5 to +5 Celsius if you have one), trekking sticks, and so on.
- Warm top/light micro fleece pullover/full sleeve T shirt – 2/3
- Water resistant/repellent trekking pants with an inner lining for added warmth- 2 High-quality windproof/water-resistant outer shell (jacket) with a proper hood
- Thick Fleece / Full-sleeve Woollen Jumper, Down Jacket with at least 600 fill capacity Innerwear with a thermal component (upper and lower)
- Woolen hat, inner fleece gloves, and outer water-resistant gloves
- 4–5 pairs of thick woollen socks and standard socks, scarf/muffler (optional)
- Waterproof Trekking/Hiking shoes with a thick heel and high ankles that are comfortable to wear. Sneakers/sport shoes are ideal for camp.
- Poncho or raincoat. A small, light-weight towel
- A hydration pack and an insulated water bottle (optional)
- Sunglasses with UV cover and the potential to cut light, as well as a cap or floppy hat to shield the strong sun off your skin (important when traversing through snow)
- Trekking pole or sturdy walking stick Lip Balm, Sunscreen Lotion

- Carry a rain cover over your luggage • Day pack/small bag that you can carry on your back all day to keep your essentials in
